چکیده

We present an investigation of the structure of the emission line region in a sample of 12 single-peaked Active Galactic Nuclei (AGNs). Using the high resolution Hβ and Hα line profiles observed with the Isaac Newton Telescope (La Palma) we study the substructure in the lines (such as shoulders or bumps) which can indicate a disk or disk-like emission in Broad Line Regions (BLRs). Applying Gaussian analysis we found that both kinds of emission regions, BLR and NLR, are complex. In this sample the narrow [OIII] lines are composites of two components; NLR1 which have random velocities from ∼200 to 500 km/s and systematic velocities toward the blue from 20 to 350 km/s, and NLR2 with smaller random velocities (∼100-200 km/s) and a redshift corresponding to the cosmological one. The BLR also have complex structure and we apply a two-component model assuming that the line wings originate in a very broad line region (VBLR) and the line core in an intermediate line region (ILR). The VBLR is assumed to be an accretion disk and the ILR a spherical emission region. The model fits very well the Hα and Hβ line profiles of the AGNs.

Contribution of a Disk Component to Single Peaked Broad Lines of Active Galactic Nuclei

We study the disk emission component hidden in the single-peaked Broad Emission Lines (BELs) of Active Galactic Nuclei (AGN). We compare the observed broad lines from a sample of 90 Seyfert 1 spectra taken from the Sloan Digital Sky Survey with simulated line profiles. We consider a two-component Broad Line Region (BLR) model where an accretion disk and a surrounding non-disk region with isotro...

Fe K EMISSION LINES IN LOW-LUMINOSITY AGNS

We present the results of a systematic analysis of Fe K emission lines in low-luminosity AGNs (LLAGNs) observed with ASCA. We used a sample of LLAGNs with small intrinsic absorption to compare with luminous AGNs and accretion models. Some objects show an Fe line at 6.4 keV or 6.7 keV, and the rest of the objects show no significant Fe K emission line. We made a composite spectrum of sources wit...

Supermassive Black Hole Masses in Type II Active Galactic Nuclei with Polarimetric Broad Emission Lines

Aims. Type II AGNs with polarimetric broad emission line provided strong evidence for the orientation-based unified model for AGNs. We want to investigate whether the polarimetric broad emission line in type II AGNs can be used to calculate their central supermassive black hole (SMBH) masses, like that for type I AGNs. Methods. We collected 12 type II AGNs with polarimetric broad emission line ...

The Ultraviolet Spectra of Active Galaxies With Double-Peaked Emission Lines

We present the results of UV spectroscopy of AGNs with double-peaked Balmer emission lines. In 2/3 of the objects, the far-UV resonance lines are strong, with single-peaked profiles resembling those of Seyfert galaxies. The Mg ii line is the only UV line with a doublepeaked profile. In the remaining objects, the far-UV resonance lines are relatively weak but still single-peaked. The latter grou...

Where Is the [o Iii]λ4363 Emitting Region in Active Galactic Nuclei?

The emission-line flux ratio of [O iii]λ4363/[O iii]λ5007 (ROIII) is a useful diagnostic for the ionization mechanism and physical properties of emission-line regions in active galactic nuclei (AGNs). However, it is known that simple photoionization models underpredict the [O iii]λ4363 intensity, being inconsistent with observations. In this paper, we report on several pieces of evidence that a...
